Opportunity Village
Opportunity Village, one of southern Nevada’s most celebrated charity
organizations, is appealing for new donations in the wake of a
devastating fire at its downtown Las Vegas thrift store The
thrift store has been such an important part of the organization for the
past 56 years. Fire destroyed nearly a third of the Main Street
building and the roof
partially collapsed..While some of the items inside were salvageable,
some decorations for
the annual Magical Forest holiday attraction and a set of new furniture
from the World Market were
destroyed..Donations are being accepted at
the Oakey Campus on Oakey Boulevard, between Jones Boulevard and Torrey

Give Back to an American Hero
Saturday September 18 a benefit for PFC Michael Araujo will be held at
Motorcycle Trike Toys, 470 Boulder Highway in Henderson. Michaels was
critically injured in Afghanistan on October 16, 2009 in a roadside bomb
attack. He is an amputee and has had several surgeries in an effort to
control infection. Michael is one of America's heroes and needs out
help.Activities on the 18 include a morning ride at 9AM followed by live
and entrainment at 1PM with food and drinks available as well as raffle
prizes. The $20 entry will be received by Michael's family.. Tax
deductible donations for PFC Araujo can be sent to The American Legion

President of the LV Chamber of Commerce Speaks at Faith Luth
Matthew T. Crosson, president of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, will be the featured speaker at Faith Lutheran Jr/Sr High School’s Business Advisory Council (BAC) breakfast on September 21, 2010 from 8:00am – 9:30am. Mr. Crosson was recently appointed as president and CEO of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the largest and most influential business organization in the state of Nevada. The >event will be held at Faith Lutheran Jr/Sr High School’s Kalb Student Center, located inside the school’s campus at 2015 S. Hualapai Way. The event is free for Business Advisory Council members and $10 for the general public.

Las Vegas Mission
Beginning August 1, 2010 the Las
Vegas Rescue Mission will be renovating the Men’s Overnight Shelter. The new facility will allow them to more than
double their nightly capacity. The Las
Vegas Rescue Mission is excited that through the generosity of our community,
they will now be able to provide more than 38,000 nightly beds each year. In addition to overnight shelter facilities,
the Mission
provides between 25,000 and 28,000 meals monthly. For more information, contact the Rescue
